The Voyage of the Damned

Well we only got them two days ago from Character Options but we've nearly sold out. Maybe it's to make up for Doctor Who missing from our TV screens tonight because of The Eurovision Song Contest, but the Voyage of the Damned Gift Set just sailed off our shelves today.

If you want one you'll have to be quick before they sink without trace, click the link and pick one up.

Toyfair Lincoln

Well it was back to the toyfairs today at the Lincolnshire Showground just outside of Lincoln. This fair is usually busy and we do well, unfortunately today was an exception. People still came through the door, they just weren't spending or what they were going to spend they kept a tight rein on. Chatting with other dealers it seemed it was the same for most of us. Is it the credit crunch?? Maybe.

Anyway we'll get over it, a glass of wine tonight will help of course.

TV Film Memorabilia

The latest edition, June 2008, of the No.1 magazine for nostalgia and collectables must have heard we had opened as on page 8 of the issue they have done an excellent write-up on ourselves.

Have a look at the home page on our website http://www.timewasshop.co.uk/ to see what they wrote, or alternatively buy the magazine of course.

It's the one we recommend as the one to get. You can subscribe to it here

Newark Jazz Festival

Jazz came to the Buttermarket here in Newark when Graham Tranfield and Friends entertained the crowds with a set on the first floor of the centre.

The music was superb especially the drum solo by one of the "Friends". The whole event was a success bringing people into the centre who might not of otherwise have come in. Despite the 'loud' music business in the shop was good, particularly on the Doctor Who front. That still might have something to do with the programme being on air at the moment or is it the David Tennant standee pulls them in?

Mind you if it was loud for us down the other end of the first floor, it probably made the hair stand up on its own at Hair by Him.

A hot day

Saturday was one of the hottest days of the year so far. Which could explain why the good folks of Newark seemed to stay outside rather than venture into the Buttermarket. However we did get a good flow of customers through the day, including Alex who had ordered his TARDIS key from the website and picked it up from the shop to save postage. Who said kid's aren't smart these days????

Also the ice-creams from Thorntons were just delicious, well what do you expect on a hot day?

It was also time to pack away the Thunderbird 3 model by Iconic Replicas ready to take to a customer at a forthcoming toyfair. It made quite a hole in the display, so another move round was in order. Although expensive Iconic Replica models are fantastic, having been produced using the original blueprints for the Thunderbirds.

Have a look at our link to the website and to save postage come and pick up the models, you know it makes sense.

Click on the link http://www.timewasshop.co.uk/IconicReplicas.htm though we do have lots more Gerry Anderson collectables here http://www.timewasshop.co.uk/GerryAnderson.htm

Toyfair NEC

Today, Sunday, was another early start for a Toyfair, this time at the NEC in Birmingham, hosted by DJ Fairs. This is a large fair and usually well attended by eager buyers, but unfortunately not today. It could have something to do with John Barrowman, of Torchwood and Doctor Who fame and not to mention those shows that Kevin Spacey apparantly dislikes. Not wanting to blame Captain Jack but he was at Collectormania today at Milton Keynes, just down the road from the NEC and by all accounts the BIG draw there.

Wouldn't have been so bad if we had managed to sell a Captain Jack poseable figure to compensate, but never mind there is always next time.

We did manage to pick up though quite a few bargains ourselves, which are now relisted on our website, www.timewasshop.co.uk under Thunderbirds Products.

So a rather long day, but at least the weekend wasn't all too bad. Nottingham Forest got promoted, at last!!!
